A Three-dimensional Hydrodynamics Code for Modeling Sources of Gravitational Radiation

چکیده
We have developed a 3-D Eulerian hydrodynamics code to model sources of gravitational radiation. The code is written in cylindrical coordinates (̟, z, φ) and has moving grids in the ̟ and z-directions. We use Newtonian gravity and calculate the gravitational radiation in the quadrupole approximation. This code has been tested on a variety of problems to verify its accuracy and stability, and the results of these tests are reported here. A new algorithm for modelling photoionising radiation in smoothed particle hydrodynamics
We present a new fast algorithm which allows the simulation of ionising radiation emitted from point sources to be included in high-resolution three-dimensional smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations of star cluster formation. We employ a Strömgren volume technique in which we use the densities of particles near the line-of-sight between the source and a given target particle to locate the...
متن کاملGravitational Radiation from Mergers of Black Hole–neutron Star Binaries
Angular momentum loss via the emission of gravitational waves must eventually drive compact binaries containing black holes and/or neutron stars to coalesce. The resulting events are primary candidate sources for detectors such as VIRGO and LIGO. We present calculations of gravitational radiation waveforms and luminosities for the coalescence of a black hole-neutron star binary, performed in th...
متن کاملSimulations of Nonaxisymmetric Instability in a Rotating Star: A Comparison Between Eulerian and Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics
We have carried out 3-D numerical simulations of the dynamical bar instability in a rotating star and the resulting gravitational radiation using both an Eulerian code written in cylindrical coordinates and a smooth particle hydrodynamics (SPH) code. The star is modeled initially as a polytrope with index n = 3/2 and Trot/|W | ≈ 0.30, where Trot is the rotational kinetic energy and |W | is the ...

Development of a compatible computational fluid dynamics procedure to investigate rigid and fixed/free coastal and offshore structures hydrodynamics in a time-dependent one/two phase flow of viscous incompressible fluids is presented. Differential governing equations are discretised using finite volume approach based on a colocated arrangement. The conservation equations for mass and momentum a...
متن کاملThree-dimensional modeling of transport phenomena in a planar anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell
In this article three dimensional modeling of a planar solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) was investigated. The main objective was to attain the optimized cell operation. SOFC operation simulation involves a large number of parameters, complicated equations, (mostly partial differential equations), and a sophisticated simulation technique; hence, a finite element method (FEM) multiphysics approach ...
